Greetings Classmates!  Plans are being made for a 60 Year Class Reunion for this fall of '23 - date(s) to be announced in a couple of weeks.

The first order of business is to get our contact list up to date.  If you will look at your own personal profile on our class website and update it, that will help us quite a bit!

Step 1
Go to the 'Classmate' section of this website and click on 'edit profile'. - you will be prompted to put in a username and password.  If you can't remember one or both, click on 'reset password'.
Step 2
After you have reset your password, use it to get to your personal profile and check to see if your profile information is correct. If not, change what needs to be changed.
Step 3

After you have made your changes, scroll down to the bottom of your profile and hit "Submit'. This will update your profile!

Trouble??
If you are having trouble getting that done and would just rather email cissy.rose@me.com with your current name/address/phone/email  - that will work, too!

Hope to see you all soon! More information/dates will follow in a couple of weeks!

The 'Still-Forming' Reunion Committee!

I am really missing Donna Davis Beneux and her dedication to keeping our classmates informed!

November 2021 greetings, classmates! Let’s start this Thanksgiving month with a quiz. Answers are at the end.  Come on, now, make Miss Barnwell proud!

In what year did the Pilgrims celebrate the first Thanksgiving?

Who first proclaimed a national day of Thanksgiving to God for His blessings?
In what year was this proclamation made?

Who officially designated the fourth Thursday in November as a national holiday?
In what year was this designation made?

I absolutely love a little Texas town’s fire department! They are super nice and helpful. I pulled a few pointers on frying turkeys from their November 2020 Facebook post to share with you:

Quoted:  Friendly reminder so we don’t show up at your (distanced) gathering: The leading cause of firefighters, usually 20-30 of them, coming to visit your house on Thanksgiving is people trying to deep fry a turkey.

Then they gave some pointers in properly doing this. Among them are the following:
Quoted: Keep fryer away from the house and dang sure not in the garage when cooking.

Quoted: Keep all children (witnesses) at a safe distance and close to a phone preferably well versed in calling 911 and able to recite your address and hospital preference.

Quoted: NEVER EVER fry your turkey on the stovetop. I say this because it has happened.

Answers to the Thanksgiving quiz

1621 Pilgrims celebrated the first Thanksgiving.

1789 George Washington proclaimed a national day of Thanksgiving to God for His blessings.

1863 Abraham Lincoln officially designated the fourth Thursday in November as a national holiday.

Thanks to friend Barbara who included these history events in her 2020 Thanksgiving poem.

How did you do with the quiz? Did you answer all five questions correctly? If so, you will be rewarded with a FREE 10 cent bag of popcorn from Kress Five & Dime Store.
