I left Fort Smith in 1964 and moved to Springfield, Missouri.  I  have lived here ever since.   In 1970, I graduated from Drury College with a degree in geology.  After a 40 year career working as a locomotive engineer with Burlington Northern Railway, I retired in 2005.  I am married and have 2 adult sons and one grandson.   There are lots of memories for me about Fort Smith especially the Dairy Grand, the Y, and Ed Walker's.

After graduation I spent 2 years in college, 1 year in the domestic peace corps (VISTA Volunteer),marriage, then 2 more years in college.  Graduated 1970, BA University of Arkansas.  Spent the better part of 20 years as a self employed artist, living in Fort Smith for 14 years, then in the lumber and construction business for 17 years in Conway, finally retiring in early 2009.  My wife Gayle, (a Wisconsin native), and I, then moved to Wisconsin where we currently live in a small resort village on Lake Michigan.  We had vacationed here many times over the years and fell in love with the area (four seasons and a lot of snow). We love to travel, with Europe being our favorite destination. We hike, antique, volunteer for our church and several other organizations and spend time with friends and our hobbies. My wife is a paper artist and I'm still a woodcarver and woodworker.  Our son Greg, a chef, lives in Little Rock, but still no grandchildren to spoil.  Looking forward to the reunion.

I retired in 2012 from the Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE) where I worked  for six years with out-of-state institutions that offered education to Arkansas residents. Previous to working with ADHE, I taught classes at Westark College and then became a college professor at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith.  In my younger years, I taught severe learning disabled children in the Fort Smith Public Schools. I am now doing some substitute teaching for my daughter and several other teachers at the school at which she teaches.

I am married to Kent Douglas, and we just celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary. We lived in Fort Smith until 2006 when I accepted the job at ADHE in Little Rock. As Kent had already retired, we bought a house in Hot Springs, and I commuted to work in Little Rock until my retirement.

We have two daughters, and we have been fortunate to be involved with them and our grandchildren. Stephanie, and grandson, Nick,13, live outside of Boston.  Stephanie is a teacher in a school for autistic children. Nick enjoys playing Lacrosse and other sports.
We enjoy visiting them often as we can and travel to Maine, Cape Cod, and other great areas in the Northeast.

Jennifer and grandchildren, Luke and Katie, live in Hot Springs. Jennifer teaches English and Journalism  at Lakeside High School and her husband, Lance, practices law.  Luke is starting his first year at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville this year.  He is pursuing a degree in International Affairs. Katie is focused on going to New York to attend a Theater and Arts school in a few years.  Katie, Jennifer, and I have made several trips to New York to  visit colleges and see plays. Katie has performed in many Hot Springs musicals and operas, as well as school plays.

Both Kent and I enjoy all the activities that Hot Springs offers such as hiking in the mountains, being out on one of the many lakes, visiting art galleries and bath house events, and attending jazz and blues events, as well as the annual music festival. I also enjoy Jazzercise, and Kent works out at his club.  We  are active in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, and Kent sings in the choir. He and Katie recently sang a duet at the Sunday service .We are fortunate to have such a blessed life.

Living life and loving it ..... love to travel, dabble in photography, hiking, gardening, antiques and all sorts of arts & crafts.  Never would have thought I'd be writing a bio for my 50th reunion but feel very fortunate to able to do so.  It's been a great ride so far ....... looking forward to whatever the future may hold!

I spent the first 20 years working for the Frisco Railroad. I then went back to college and received my BS in Accounting, took the CPA exam and passed and spent 14 years working in public accounting. I spent the next 7 years in corporate accounting as a CFO. In 2007 I retired and did a little accounting here and there. My greatest joy has come from being a Pastor of Westside Baptist Church for the last 9 years. Life is ever changing and it has not left me with any regrets.

Cheri and I have been married 42 years. We have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. This last July 7, 2012, our son Dax married Natalie. Esti married Forrest Corcoron 11 years ago and have two children, Colton and Cambell, 8 and 5. Ember lives in New York City and is now gainfully employed as a social worker. She was formerly an off-off Broadway theater actress.  Currently she is not married; however, she does claim a "significant other".

I still work daily at our funeral home, but my brother Jim really runs the show.

I enjoy more time golfing than working. Ha!

Judy and I have 9 grandchildren from our three oldest children Piper (age 42), Matt (age 40) and Paul (age 38). Our fourth child Gray (age 23) has just finished his first year in medical school and since he is not married, we are still parenting, which "keeps us young"? I am still working as Founder and CEO of Benefit Bank in Fort Smith with offices in Van Buren and Springdale, Ark. I enjoy tennis, yard and garden work, travel and Bible studies with men and couples. Thanks to each of you for such good memories and I look forward to seeing each of you soon.
