Charlotte J. Lee, Ph.D., 73, of Fort Smithpassed away Friday, May 10, 2019, in Fort Smith. She was born Oct. 10, 1945, in Fort Smith to Jean and Alta (Steelman) Lee. Charlotte was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fort Smith and was the senior director for CLASS+ Tutoring at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville for the past 13 years. During her 50-year career in education, she served various positions throughout the country including president of Terra Community College from 1993-2003. She earned her doctorate in higher education from the University of Missouri at Columbia in 1976.
She is survived by her cousins, Tanna Lee Richard of Fort Smith, Gardner Lee of Overland Park, Kan., Bill Steelman of Fort Smith and numerous other cousins.
Private burial will be at Barling City Cemetery under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home in Fort Smith.
The family will visit with friends 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2019, at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home.
